Mobile Website Development

- Have you started to think about users who access your website from a mobile device?
- We develop mobile websites from scratch, or can convert your existing site to a mobile site very cost effectively
Is your website mobile? If not it should be!
Over the past few years many websites have moved towards widescreen formats, wider screen resolutions and heavier web page file sizes, due to many people having more powerful PCs, faster internet connections and unlimited internet usage allowances.
This presents an issue for website owners, due the growth in the number of users looking to access websites from mobile devices.
As advanced as mobile devices (and in particular smartphones) have become, websites built for the PC environment are not as usable on mobile devices. This is because screen sizes are smaller, internet connections are often slower and the processing capabilities of mobile devices are still short of those on larger machines.
Furthermore, even though many mobile internet bundles on mobile phone tariffs are 'unlimited', in reality their fair usage policies mean data transfer limits of 250MB to 1GB, far lower than many domestic and business landline based internet tariffs.
So, if you have a heavy web page it will take far longer to load on a mobile device, and users may well move on before it does, just like they used to do on their PCs before broadband came along.
The answer is to offer your website in a mobile version too, whether using a subdomain (i.e. "http://mobile.yourwebsite.com) or a mobile top level domain (i.e. http://www.yourwebsite.mobi).
By inserting a bit of code into your main site, your users can then be transferred to your mobile site if they are trying to access your site from a mobile device.
Mobile phone apps are also being used by website owners to deliver a usable aspect of their website in the mobile arena. An example would include a property search app from a property website.
Really Useful Apps can deliver apps which supplement your website, and can develop mobile sites via our parent company, Really Useful Websites Limited.
